My boyfriend jeans all mysteriously fit like skinny jeans now, so I upgraded to wide-leg. 😅

Experimenting with volume on the bottom has always been a challenge. Keeping a slim and visible leg-line is the way I visually lengthen myself and keep my figure visible. My legs are also the longest part of my body so I rely on them to give me most of whatever humble height I have. When I try something with width or volume down there, I loose all those precious sartorial crutches.

BUT! I’m also painfully bored of skinny jeans and ready to branch out to different, fun silhouettes. As luck would have it, my sizing has changed a bit in the last year (hello, late 30’s) so I’m taking the opportunity to replenish my denim wardrobe with some different fits since I have to buy new ones anyway.

I wanted to stick to a petite fit for a well-proportioned high-rise, leg fading, and a cropped length that wouldn’t need to be cut or altered. This Madewell Slim Wide-Leg Crop Jean in petite fit the bill. The reviews on this one were really good, and I liked the idea of a slimmer take on a wide-leg. Since I’m so short, I don’t want to go too wide down there, so it seemed like a nice compromise. So, how slim is “slim”? Madewell shows about a 5 inch difference between their wide (22 inches) and slim wide (17.5 inches) leg openings, so that’s quite a bit.
