Everlane just relaunched their silk line under the name “Clean Silk”, a reference to their plan for sustainability in silk production. What exactly is meant by “Clean Silk” can be found on the Everlane website, with this release being the first of three phases. The factories are different, the silk texture is different, the styles are different, and the colors much more reflective of the upcoming fall season.
As a fan of Everlane silks for some time now, when asked if I’d like to try a design from the Clean Silk relaunch, I jumped at the opportunity and chose the Notch Shirt for its clean lines, unique collar detail, and rich fall hues. I thought “olive” would be a nice addition to my wardrobe, so here she is in size 00. As always, my measurements can be found here for reference.

The Fit
Everlane fits generally run relaxed and boxy, and this blouse is no different, especially on my petite frame. Silk is meant to be worn loose and floaty, so this size works on me, especially when styled in my usual way with a front-tuck and presence-giving pushed up sleeves (see photo at the top of this post). I like this relaxed vibe, especially when paired with skinny jeans.

The Fabric
This release has more of a crepe texture than their previous silks, which I feel gives it a nice texture, drape, and warmth for fall. It’s a good mid-market weight in that I’ve felt better from expensive designer brands, but I’ve also felt many more way, way worse from mall brands. For the price, the fabric easily beats other similarly priced items in terms of quality.
The Style
As per usual, the Clean Silk styles in this release are minimalist and modern, leaving perhaps something to be desired in the just plain old “classic” category. I’d love to see the slim silks make a return, perhaps with a chest pocket, but this piece is nice in that “something different” kind of way. I have to say the color is spot on. When I hung it up next to the other greens in my closet, it’s a very true olive and I can’t wait to pair it with black skinnies and leather jackets this fall.
Another reason why I like this particular style is the notch collar detail looks right at home worn open over a cami or tee as a lightweight layer:
